Many people are afraid to speak to their encounters, fearing disbelief. Here at the Institute for the Inexplainable (IfI), we will listen. We will not tell you that you are lying. We believe that everyone speaks to their own experiences, and sometimes things neither science nor religion can explain lurk amongst us.

"I walked down the same street every night for three years, ever since moving to town. It was always chained up in the backyard of an old white house . . . I thought it was just a dog. One night I found it off the leash and rooting through the garbage. I went up to the house to tell them it had gotten loose but then it turned and looked at me. It was like nothing I'd ever seen before, but it certainly wasn't a dog. It had too many legs. It had too many mouths. I crossed the street to get away from it but it was too slow. It was too slow. Nobody's ever believed me . . . but [IfI] did. [IfI] did. And they took care of it."

"I've worked as a secretary for thirty years. My manager is a very private man. He's always been punctual and sent me everything I needed via email. One day he started just sending me these blank emails, over and over, ten of them for every minute. My phone was ringing off the hook with his number. I heard a shout from his office but when I went inside there was nobody there. It was an empty room, no furniture or anything. It was like he never existed. My phone keeps ringing with his number, but now [IfI] fields my calls for me. Thanks, [IfI]!"

I bought my grandson a camera from an antique store for his birthday. I don't know a thing about cameras, but when he opened it, he said it didn't work. It just took the same picture over and over again, of a woman with her face turned away. The funny thing was, the more pictures he took, the closer the woman seemed to be. Almost like we were sneaking up on her. Well, we got too close to that woman for my liking and my grandson let me hop up here to the Institute for the Inexplainable and donate that thing right into their secure archives. I don't trust that woman, and I don't trust her photo either.
